Grounded in tradition and influenced by Bluegrass and folk, the boys of Buffalo Nickel bring raw energy to the stage along with their passion for acoustic music.

George Jackson, the Golden Fiddle ‘Best Fiddler as a Soloist’ of 2012 and three time Australian Bluegrass Champion is joined by Daniel Watkins, the man known around Australia as the go-to guy for Bluegrass Guitar and for his passionate strong lead vocals, and Paddy Montgomery, brilliant mandolinist. George and Dan together have a long friendship and musical fellowship and along with good buddy Paddy Montgomery, they bring this connection to their intimate performances.

George is a seventh generation fiddle player who in his relatively short career has notched up some very impressive awards. He has been awarded the 2012 Golden Fiddle for ‘Best Fiddler as a Soloist’, the 2012 Australian Youth Bluegrass Scholarship, the 2011 Peter J Daly Award at the National Folk Festival and the 2010 FAA Young Folk Musician award.

Daniel is a Newcastle native who moved to Melbourne to pursue a professional career in bluegrass. Dan’s band Big Bug Trio recently supported Peter Rowan on his 2012 Australian Tour at the Brunswick Festival, and he’s a common face at many festivals all over Australia. A go-to session guitarist, Dan is quickly making a name for himself as one to watch out for.
